My name is Cal Finocchiaro and I’m running for Councilor of Ward 6.
I live with my husband and our three sons on Gooch Street. For more than 15 years, I have dedicated much of my time to our community and schools. My passion has always been to get involved and help make things better.
As a lifelong resident, small business owner and parent of Melrose students, I have a vested interest in our City. I will bring my experience, energy, and historical knowledge to continue to move Melrose forward.
I will bring a common sense-based approach to make the best decisions for Ward 6 and the City of Melrose.

About me
Cal with her husband, Mark and 3 sons, Charlie, Amato and Marky
I was born and raised in Melrose, a city which I have called home for 44 years. I was a student at the Franklin Elementary School and I am a proud Melrose High School graduate. My parents instilled the importance of giving back to your community in my siblings and me. I have honored this value through my very active volunteer work over the last 16 years throughout the community.
Having children at Melrose High School, Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School and Winthrop Elementary School, much of my volunteer time has been dedicated to the schools. My primary goals in each of these volunteer roles has always been to provide opportunities for the youth in our community and to try to help advance each program.
Along with volunteering, I worked in cancer research at Massachusetts General Hospital for eighteen years as a Senior Research Manager managing the clinical trials and working with the budget and finance department to ensure funding was properly allocated. I owned a small floral business in Melrose from 2005 until 2012 and I am currently the owner of an interior design business. In addition, I am the assistant coach of the MHS girls track team.
Having owned a business here in the city, I appreciate what it takes to keep the doors open and business thriving. In May of 2020, when several of the businesses closed their doors due to Covid19, I organized a fundraiser called #MelroseStrong and raised over twelve thousand dollars that went directly to the small business owners in Melrose.
I look forward to meeting with the residents of our neighborhood and the wider community as my campaign progresses over the next few months and earning your support.
